The language of American society is generally based on a binary system. Speaking beyond the binary is crucial for programs, policy and institutional structure in order to create a truly inclusive environment for all of the citizens within. This workshop will look at issues and language related to the Sexual Freedom Movement so that participants will be better equipped to create the environment they envision. The focus of this workshop is to offer participants the opportunity to learn about language and issues related to biological sex, gender expression, sexual orientation and more. Many people have basic knowledge of what is generally understood as gay or lesbian and bisexual, but what about terms like transgender, genderqueer and heteroflexible?
