Mental Health First Aid is an eight-hour training certification course that teaches participants a five-step action plan to assess a situation, select and implement interventions and secure appropriate care for the individual. The course is offered over the course of two days, Wednesday, April 19th and Thursday, April 20th from 12:30-4:30 pm. You must be able to attend both days. The MHFA course has been pre-approved by NCSAPPS for 8 training hours, including 6 general skill building and 2 substance abuse specific. The certification program introduces adults to risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems, builds understanding of their impact and overviews common treatments.
The $55/person fee (including all training materials, but does not include lunch) must be paid in advance of the class at time of registration. Registration is required and is nonrefundable. There is a minimum sign-up of 6 people for the class to run. The class counts towards Peer Support Specialist certification hours.
