MHAG offers suicide prevention instruction and resources through QPR, a nationally recognized best-practices program offering training in suicide/ crisis aversion. Gatekeepers can be anyone, but include parents, friends, neighbors, teachers, ministers, doctors, nurses, office supervisors, squad leaders, foremen, police officers, advisers, caseworkers, firefighters, and many others who are strategically positioned to recognize and refer someone at risk of suicide.
Trainings take place at MHAG, in Board Room #1 on the second floor. Parking is off of Hughes St. This is a 1.5 hour course; the registration fee is $30.00 per participant.
As a QPR-trained Gatekeeper you will learn to:
- Recognize the warning signs of suicide
- Know how to offer hope
- Know how to get help and save a life
