Mental Health Greensboro will be offering Mental Health First Aid and QPR Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper trainings in-house this April:
- Mental Health First Aid is an eight-hour training certification course that teaches participants a five-step action plan to assess a situation, select and implement interventions and secure appropriate care for the individual. The certification program introduces adults to risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems, builds understanding of their impact and overviews common treatments.
Participants will receive MHFA Certificates upon completion of the course, as well as applicable continuing education credits. The MHFA course has been pre-approved by NCSAPPS for 8 training hours, including 6 general skill building and 2 substance abuse specific. The class also counts towards Peer Support Specialist certification hours.
Dates: Thursday, April 4th and Friday, April 5th
Times: 12 pm – 5 pm
- QPR Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Training is a nationally recognized best-practices program offering training in suicide/ crisis aversion. Gatekeepers can be anyone, but include parents, friends, neighbors, teachers, ministers, doctors, nurses, office supervisors, squad leaders, foremen, police officers, advisers, caseworkers, firefighters, and many others who are strategically positioned to recognize and refer someone at risk of suicide.
