Event Details

Mental Health First Aid is an eight-hour introductory course intended for anyone except experienced mental health professionals. This includes professionals who interact with large numbers of people, school and college leadership, faith communities, and those in non-professional roles, such as friends and family or anyone interested in learning more about individuals with mental illness or addiction.

The certification program introduces participants to risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems, builds understanding of their impact, and overviews common treatments. It then teaches participants a five-step action plan to assess a situation, select and implement interventions, and secure appropriate care for the individual.

The registration fee is $55, which includes all training materials, and must be paid at the time of registration. Registration is required. There is a minimum sign-up of 8 people for the class to run. Registrants will be advised by Tuesday, March 10th should the class need to be postponed. The class counts towards Peer Support Specialist credit hours. For more information or to reserve a date for your organization, please contact Myla Erwin or Christa Whitesell at or or call 336-373-1402.
