Mental Health First Aid is an eight-hour training certification course that teaches participants a five-step action plan to assess a situation, select and implement interventions and secure appropriate care for the individual. The MHFA course has been pre-approved by NCSAPPS for 8 training hours, including 6 general skill building and 2 substance abuse specific. The certification program introduces adults to risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems, builds understanding of their impact and overviews common treatments.
This training is held at the MHAG office, located inside the Dorothy Bardolph Building, in Board Room #1 on the second floor, located at 301 E. Washington St., Greensboro, NC 27401. Each course is limited to 16 participants; with a minimum of 8 participants in order to hold the class. Therefore, registration is imperative. The fee for this training is $30 plus $25 for materials ($55 total), and it must be paid in advance of the class at time of registration. No refunds will be provided.
