Mental Health First Aid is an eight-hour training certification course that teaches participants a five-step action plan to assess a situation, select and implement interventions and secure appropriate care for the individual. The MHFA course has been pre-approved by NCSAPPS for 8 training hours, including 6 general skill building and 2 substance abuse specific. The certification program introduces adults to risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems, builds understanding of their impact and overviews common treatments.
We will offer the training over the course of two days. You must be able to attend both days of the training, consecutively. The next 2-day class of Mental Health First Aid training will be offered to the general public on Wednesday, December 2nd from 12:30 pm – 5:00 pm and Wednesday, December 9th from 12:30 pm – 5:00 pm at the Dorothy Bardolph Building, in Board Room #1 on the second floor, located at 301 E. Washington St., Greensboro, NC 27401. Each course is limited to 16 participants; however, we need a minimum of 8 participants in order to hold the class. The fee for this training is $30 plus $25 for materials ($55 total), and it must be paid in advance of the class at time of registration. No refunds will be provided.
