Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) trainings were created in the late 1980’s following multiple encounters between law enforcement and individuals with mental illness. Today, CIT has grown into a program into a collaboration between behavioral health providers, advocacy groups, and first responders of all types. Participants of this workshop will learn about the history of Crisis Intervention Teams (CIT), and the evolution of the program. The role of behavioral health agencies in the success of CIT will be covered. Additionally, recent graduates of CIT in Guilford County will talk about their experiences utilizing material from their CIT class.
